How It Works
Synthetic L-thyroxine (T4). Liver deiodinates T4 to active T3 peripherally. Unlike direct T3 use, T4 allows the body to regulate conversion rate — gentler metabolic profile, less cardiovascular stress.
Pharmacokinetics
Plasma half-life approximately 7 days. Once-daily dosing on empty stomach (absorption reduced by calcium, iron, food). Steady-state at 4–6 weeks.
Potential Side Effects
Over-replacement: tachycardia, insomnia, anxiety, weight loss beyond target. Under-replacement: fatigue, weight gain, cold intolerance. Monitor TSH + free T4 at week 6.
Cycle & Stacking Guide
Long-term replacement use in hypothyroid patients. For performance use: T3 is preferred; T4 makes sense only as a stable background layer in extended protocols. Bloodwork every 3 months.
